MAKING PEC SAFER
The PEC Traffic and Safety Committee (TSC) has been working together with the City, neighbors, parents, teachers, administrators and staff since January 2015 to improve the dangerous traffic situation around our school. Due to this advocacy, the City of Encinitas has budgeted $150,000 for the 2015-16 fiscal year for a high visibility crosswalk, speed monitors and a sidewalk on Vulcan Ave. between Halcyon Rd. and the Kinder Lot. This funding is contingent on the school district following through on their commitment to cede a small portion of the west side of the PEC school yard. Both Superintendent Baird and Principal Chavarin are in support of this, and we want you to help decide how we do it.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
As a member of our community you can influence what the west side of school looks like. Given the City’s recommendations, best practices, and upcoming traffic projects, the TSC selected two final options for consideration by the entire school community. Once decided, it should take about 6-8 months to implement.
