We welcome you to a great school year! Our year starts with some changes you must know. You have a new teacher, a new class and a new grade.
As you may have noticed the City of Encinitas installed a queuing lane,
parallel parking lane and sidewalk on Vulcan Ave in front of the school. We
are so thankful for this increase in safety for our families!
In addition, Tasha Boerner Horvath will lead a “walking school bus” from
Cottonwood Creek Park to school for the first two weeks to help alleviate
traffic and parking congestion. This is a great option for Kinder families who
want to park and walk in with their children!
The Safe Drop Off & Pick Up Routes will take effect starting the first day
of school, Monday, August 22, 2016.
Thank you in advance for your help in improving the safety of our children!

SAFELY DROPPING OFF & PICKING UP YOUR CHILDREN
- Walk or bike when possible to avoid high traffic volumes, especially in the morning.
- Take the time to practice your drop off and pick up procedures before school starts.
- Two, separate car routes Parents can drop off and pick up their children on either the East Route or West Route.
School Safety Dos and Dont’s
- Do use designated safe zones
Please wait to drop off and pick up your children until you reach the green Safe Loading Zone.
- Do park properly
Please use designated parking spaces and public parking. Parking up at Orpheus Park and walking down can be a good alternative for many families.
- Do role model good behavior
As we transition to this new traffic flow, please be respectful of your safety guards, parent volunteers and safety patrol who may give guidance on the appropriate routes to take.
- Do practice
Please take the time before school starts to practice how you will drop off and pick up.
- Do share this information
Please share your this letter with anyone involved with PEC drop off and pick up.
- Do be patient
The transition will take some getting used to. We will collect feedback, review over fall break and make any necessary changes. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
- Do be a good neighbor
The business parking lots on Vulcan are not public lots and cannot be used for school parking. Neighboring business will start towing cars, at your expense, should you park in their lots. Also please do not block neighbors’ driveways.
- Don’t “jump the line”
Trying to cut in is disrespectful, dangerous and will be cited.
- Don’t head south on Vulcan
To arrive at drop off from Leucadia Blvd., please take Hygeia to either Cereus (for the East Route) or to Orpheus and then northbound on Vulcan (for the West Route). The City has posted no left turn signs during school drop off and pick up times on Vulcan at Union and the Kinder Lot to keep you and our children safe.
