M.A.R.E.
M.A.R.E. (Marine Activities, Resources & Education) is an inter-disciplinary program that immerses our entire school into the study and celebration of the ocean. The MARE curriculum focuses each grade on a different aquatic habitat, and addresses standards in Earth, physical and life science, as well as “investigation and experimentation”; language arts, environmental issues, art, and music.

From May 8 to June 8 , our school will be immersed in an inter-disciplinary science program, called M.A.R.E. (Marine Activities, Resources, and Education). The curriculum focuses each grade on a different aquatic habitat. It addresses California state standards in earth, physical and life science, as well as inquiry (investigation and experimentation); language arts, environmental issues, art, and music.
Last year, M.A.R.E. was a huge success and your kids loved learning about our Oceans and their watershed environments! We were able to borrow lab kits from Birch Aquarium, last year, because it was our first year. This year, we are building our own M.A.R.E. lab kits and need your help. We would truly appreciate your help in keeping our purchasing costs at a minimum! Please click here to review the latest wishlist of items (updated April 30th 2012) to see if you would like to help. Many of the necessary items are things you may already have around the house, such as wine corks, birthday candles, and colorful pictures from magazines or old calendars.
If you are able to help with some of these items, please bring them to school by Friday, March 30th. There will be a collection bin in the front office. Please ensure your donation is labeled with the item name, designated grade level, and your contact information.
